Chan and Turley Fall in NCAA Round of 32

San Diego State’s Jo-Yee Chan and Vessa Turley made their first career NCAA Championships appearance on Wednesday, competing in the doubles round of 32 at the USTA National Campus.

ORLANDO, Fla. – San Diego State’s Jo-Yee Chan and Vessa Turley made their first career NCAA Championships appearance on Wednesday, competing in the doubles round of 32 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.. The Aztecs faced Grace Levelston and Kendall Kovick out of BYU in the opening round. Despite battling in each game, Chan and Turley were unable to maintain the momentum and were ultimately tripped up 6-1, 6-1 by the Cougar duo.

The senior and freshman wrap up a successful fall season with an 11-2 record, capturing a Mountain West Fall Qualifier championship as well as an ITA Conference Masters title to earn San Diego State’s 15th NCAA berth.

In her senior season, Chan also holds an 11-4 singles record so far this season, while Turley is 3-3 in singles competition.

The Aztecs will return to action in January as they kick off their spring season, first taking on Point Loma at the Aztec Tennis Center at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 17. The reigning Mountain West Champions will look to claim back-to-back conference titles in their final season as a part of the Mountain West.
