SAN DIEGO – San Diego State head men’s basketball coach Brian Dutcher announced on Wednesday the signing of high school senior Zach White to an athletic aid agreement beginning in the 2026-27 school year.

White, a 6-6, 165-pound wing out of Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California, is a composite three-star recruit according to 247Sports, which ranks him as the No. 20 player in the state and No. 57 at his position nationally. Rivals rates him No. 31 in the state of California and No. 64 in the nation at his position.

A three-year letterwinner, who has competed in 106 high school games, White enters his senior season after averaging 12.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.2 steals in his junior campaign. For his career, he has averaged 9.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals.

Notre Dame High has gone 86-22 in White’s three seasons, including a 17-4 mark in Mission League action, and has been ranked the No. 23 team in the nation in the preseason. While a member of the Knights, Notre Dame won the Division I state championship in his freshman campaign and reached the Division I regional semifinal as a sophomore. Moving to the Open Division last year, White helped lead them to the regional final.

“People have a misunderstanding what kind of player leads to winning, and Zach only does things that lead to winning, and it’s not flashy and it’s not something for a mixtape,” Notre Dame coach Matt Sargeant told the Los Angeles Times. “If you know basketball and you’re really watching the game, all he’s doing is affecting winning. It’s his defense, it’s his communication, it’s his rebounding. He’s constantly doing stuff that helps us win basketball games.”

White, in his high school career, has teamed up with players such as Duke’s Caleb Foster, Gonzaga’s Dusty Stromer, Houston’s Mercy Miller, Rutgers’ Lino Mark and the nation’s top recruit Tyron Stokes.

White chose San Diego State over Washington, California, Loyola Marymount and SMU among others.
