SAN DIEGO – Head women’s golf coach Lauren Dobashi has announced the signing of Kaylee Chung.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kaylee to the Aztec family,” Dobashi said. “Kaylee has already proven herself on some of the biggest stages in junior golf and her competitive spirit, composure under pressure and dedication to excellence make her a perfect addition to our team. I believe she will continue to grow and contribute to the success of San Diego State Women's Golf.”
A native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Chung became the first Canadian to win the Notah Begay III Jr. Junior Golf National Championship in 2024. She also won the Les Schwab Amateur Open in Portland earlier this year, which qualified her for the LPGA’s Portland Classic. She shot a 67 in one of the rounds and beat some of the top-ranked amateurs.
Since the spring of 2024, Chung has five top-5 finishes. In addition to winning the Notah Begay, she placed second at the MJT adidas Series at UGC, third at the NextGen Prairie Championship and fourth at the K.J. Choi Foundation Seattle Junior Championship.
Chung is also a standout in the classroom, being named to the Academic Principal’s List for the last two years at Vancouver’s Lord Byng Secondary School.
