RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The San Diego State men’s soccer team saw their season come to an end Sunday night after falling to San Jose State 4-0 in the first round of the WAC Tournament.
The Spartans outshot the Aztecs 19-10 and after scoring one goal in the first half, poured in three goals in the second frame.
San Jose State’s first goal came in the 35th minute when Arnold Matshazi finished a Dane Pendleton assist inside the far post.
The Spartans scored their second goal in the 64th minute when Cameron Cook scored from distance.
Shortly after SJSU’s second goal, Aztec goalkeeper Trevor Wilson was issued a red card, forcing SDSU to play a man down for the final 25 minutes. Eddy Vargas finished the match in goal.
The Spartans would capitalize on the advantage and tack on two more goals.

The Aztecs allowed nine shots on goal.

This is the second straight year the Aztecs’ season had ended due to a loss to San Jose State in the WAC Tournament.
