COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The San Diego State men’s soccer team (5-6-0, 1-0-0) beat Air Force 3-2 in their first match of WAC play Saturday evening. Juan Zepeda, who scored two goals, had the game-winner in the 70th minute.
The Aztecs rallied from a Falcon goal in the 15th minute to take a 2-1 lead. Their first goal came in the 36th minute from Josh Lucas.
The Aztecs took the lead less than a minute into the second half when Zepeda scored at the 45:43 mark.
Just over two minutes later, the Falcons’ Maximilian scored the equalizer.
Air Force outshot the Aztecs 20-10 and 12-4 in the second half but Zepeda’s goal from a Rommee Jaridly pass sealed the victory.
Eddy Vargas, the reigning WAC Goalkeeper of the Week, collected four saves.
STAT OF THE GAME
The Aztecs are unbeaten in conference matches since they joined the WAC last season (8-0-1).
THE NOTE
After Juan Zepeda’s two goals, he now leads the team with four goals on the season.
