LAS VEGAS – San Diego State’s Jo-Yee Chan and Vessa Turley are headed to the finals at the Mountain West Fall Qualifier after combining for two wins on the third day of competition. The senior and freshman will team up in doubles once more this weekend to compete for an automatic bid to the ITA Conference Masters, while Chan will also look to qualify as a singles player.
On Saturday, the Aztecs faced teammates Ninon Martinache and Gloria Alogo in the semifinal round of the doubles main draw. Chan and Turley came out on top of the San Diego State matchup, 6-2, 6-4, to earn their spot in the final day.
In the singles bracket, Chan went up against Boise State’s Masa Viriant and cruised to a two-set victory, 6-2, 6-3.
The duo will take on Silver Bijlsma and Violetta Borodina of Wyoming in the final round of doubles at 9:30 a.m. PT. Chan will then face Nevada’s Amahee Charrier in the singles final at 11:30 a.m.
