Aztecs Advance to Doubles Quarterfinals at MW Qualifier

San Diego State men’s tennis kicked off the Mountain West Fall Qualifier on Friday, advancing all four competing Aztecs in the doubles main draw.

LAS VEGAS – San Diego State men’s tennis kicked off the Mountain West Fall Qualifier on Friday, advancing all four competing Aztecs in the doubles main draw. Brock Anderson/Imran Daniel Hazli and Lars Johann/Aleksi Lofman are each moving on to Saturday’s doubles quarterfinals, but will not advance in singles.

Anderson and Hazli earned their spot in the doubles bracket after taking down Grand Canyon’s Andreas Loizas and Tristan Berard in an 8-6 victory. The Aztecs will next face Boise State’s Carson Baker and Avery Tallakson in the quarterfinal round.

Johann and Lofman punched their own ticket with a hard-fought 8-7 (7-4) win over Nishant Dabas and Carl Labitzke of New Mexico. Next up, the duo will take on Nevada’s Rayen Hermassi and Axel Huysmans.

Saturday’s doubles competition will get underway at 9:30 a.m. PT.
