LAS VEGAS – All four San Diego State women’s tennis players advanced in the main draw of the Mountain West Fall Qualifier on Thursday, going 2-0 in doubles and 3-1 in singles competition. Gloria Alogo/Ninon Martinache and Jo-Yee Chan/Vessa Turley are moving on to Friday’s doubles quarterfinals while Alogo, Martinache and Chan will represent the Scarlet and Black in the singles round of 16.
Alogo and Martinache recorded a dominant 8-0 victory over Air Force’s Jariahlyn Rhoades and Chaeyule Kang on Thursday, earning the Aztecs a quarterfinal matchup against Kennedy Robinson and Amahee Charrier of Nevada.
Chan and Turley punched their ticket to the quarterfinal round after an 8-6 win over Utah State’s Natalie Paterova and Terezia Mlkva. They’ll take on Boise State’s Paula Schaefer and Silvia Maria Costache on Friday.
In singles, Alogo cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Silver Bijlsma of Wyoming, Chan took her match 6-1, 6-2 over Fresno State’s Klara Vukicevic and Martinache earned a 6-4, 6-4 win in a matchup against Utah State’s Terezia Mlkva. Turley fell 6-3, 6-4 to Marlene Foerster out of Nevada.
Doubles competition is set to get underway at 9:30 a.m. PT, followed by the singles round of 16 at noon and quarterfinals at 3:30 p.m.
