Jo-Yee Chan Finishes Fourth at ITA Southwest Regionals

San Diego State’s Jo-Yee Chan wrapped up the final day of the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, taking fourth place in the singles competition after falling to Arizona State’s Emilija Tverijonaite on Tuesday.

SAN DIEGO – San Diego State’s Jo-Yee Chan wrapped up the final day of the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, taking fourth place in the singles competition after falling to Arizona State’s Emilija Tverijonaite on Tuesday.

The senior tallied four wins in singles during the six-day event, landing in Monday’s semifinals, where she fell 3-6, 6-4, 3-6 to USC’s Jana Hossam Salah. Competing for a podium finish on Tuesday, the Aztec went up against the fourth-seeded Sun Devil at the Aztec Tennis Center. Chan fought to a tiebreaker, but came up short 0-6, 6-2, [6-10].

Next up, Chan will once again look to qualify for the NCAA Championships, playing alongside freshman Vessa Turley in doubles at the ITA Masters, beginning on Nov. 6 at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego.
