Women’s Tennis to Host ITA Southwest Regional Championships

San Diego State women’s tennis is once again co-hosting the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, welcoming 15 schools from across the region to the Aztec Tennis Center on Oct. 16-21.

SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women’s tennis is once again hosting the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, welcoming 15 schools from across the region to the Aztec Tennis Center on Oct. 16-21.

All eight Aztecs will be competing in singles and doubles, beginning with four appearing in the singles qualifying round on Thursday morning. The opening day is set to get underway at 9 a.m. PT.

Co-hosted by the University of San Diego, the tournament will feature players from Arizona, Arizona State, Cal Poly, CSUN, Grand Canyon, Hawaii, LMU, Long Beach State, Pepperdine, UCLA, USC, UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, UC Riverside and UC Irvine.

Singles Qualifying Round of 64: Thursday, 9 a.m.
Jayna Clemens (SDSU) vs. Julianna Galindo (UCR)
Vessa Turley (SDSU) vs. Carling Allaye-Chan (UCSD)
Vesa Gjinaj (SDSU) vs. Camille Li (UCR)
Teja Tirunelveli (SDSU) vs. Dana Kunza (Fullerton)

The opening round of singles will be followed by the qualifying round of 32 at noon.

Doubles competition will kick off on Friday morning.
