LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The San Diego State women’s golf team finished an impressive first round at New Mexico State’s Golf Iconic Classic Monday. The Aztecs shot a season-low six-under-par 282 and had all five golfers shoot an even par or better, including three who shot career-low rounds. After 18 holes, the Aztecs are in second place (out of 19 schools).
Kylie Phi led the Aztecs with a career-best four-under-par 68, which put her in a tie for fourth place. She had five birdies and only one bogey.
Emma Delwes and Nikki Kato also had career-low rounds with one-under-par 71s. They each had four birdies and Delwes beat her previous best score with two strokes while Kato beat her career-best by one. They are both tied for 24th.
Stephanie Barbaglia and Ema Narita each fired even par 72s and are tied for 32nd place. Barbaglia had four birdies, while Narita had three.
The Aztecs’ 20 birdies were the second most on the day.

SDSU averaged 4.87 strokes on par fives, the best in the field.
