FULLERTON, Calif. – The San Diego State men’s soccer team (4-6-0) shutout Cal State Fullerton 1-0 on the road Saturday evening. Juan Zepeda scored the game-winning goal in the 17th minute to help the Aztecs earn the win in their non-conference finale.

“Soccer is a wild sport, and we have been on the wrong side of results in matches like this so far this season,” Head coach Ryan Hopkins said after the match. “I’m proud of our resiliency and urgency tonight which helped us get a win on the road. That championship mentality carried us throughout WAC play last year and I’m glad we found it right in time.”

Zepeda’s goal came after the ball was poked away from the Fullerton defense to Zepeda on the left wing. He then slipped it past the keeper inside the far post.

It appeared the Titans scored in the 29th minute but after an officials review, it was called off.

Fullerton peppered the Aztec defense with shots all night. One of their best opportunities came in the opening minute of the second half when Vargas made a fantastic save.

Goalkeeper Eddy Vargas picked up the clean sheet and had a career-high 11 saves.
