SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s golf team will play in The Molly Collegiate Invitational at the Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, Ore. Beginning next Monday.
The Aztecs will play 36 holes Monday and 18 Tuesday. Both days will start with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
The seven-team tournament field comprises all West Coast schools: Nevada, Boise State, UC Irvine, Long Beach State, Oregon (individuals) and the co-hosts Oregon State and Cal.
Head coach Lauren Dobashi (5th season) will use the lineup of Ema Narita, Kylie Phi, Stephanie Barbaglia, Emma Delwes and Manon Martin. Nikki Kato will also be playing as an individual.
Narita (Tokyo, Japan) has led the Aztecs in five of their last seven tournaments dating back to last spring, including SDSU’s first tournament this season where she finished T-14th with a three-over-par 219. She has finished second in scoring among Aztecs in her first two years on The Mesa.
Phi (Fountain Valley, Calif.) finished second among Aztecs in the season opening tournament with a 227 (+11). She started all 11 tournaments for the Aztecs in her freshman season and set a school record by winning Mountain West Freshman of the Week three times.
Barbaglia (Johannesburg, South Africa) has finished as SDSU’s top golfer in each of the last two seasons. She has started 22 straight tournaments for the Aztecs and has a career count percentage of 89.7%.
Emma Delwes (Verden, Germany) will be making her season debut. Last year as a freshman, she appeared in five tournaments (two starts) and had her best showing at Denver’s Ron Moore Intercollegiate where she shot a 230 (73-82-76, +14).
Manon Martin (Courbevoie, France) is the lone freshman on this year’s team. In her collegiate debut, she finished with a 232 (+16) and finished strong with a one-over-par 73 in her final round.
Kato (Redmond, Wash.) has played in nine tournaments with eight starts across her first two-plus seasons at SDSU.
Trysting Tree Golf Club is Oregon State’s home course. It is a par 72 and will be 6,300 yards.
The forecast calls for clouds and rain both days with high temperatures reaching the mid 60s.
