SAN DIEGO –San Diego State women’s soccer forward Victoria Miller was named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Miller scored three goals in SDSU’s two matches, leading the Aztecs (3-2-1) to a pair of wins over Pepperdine and UC Riverside. Her three goals came on just four shots for a .750 shooting percentage on the week.

With San Diego State trailing 2-0 at Pepperdine on Thursday, Miller converted on a penalty kick at the 43:56 mark to bring the Aztecs within a goal heading into halftime. She continued attacking in the second half, scoring off a corner kick at 56:44 to even the score at two goals apiece before Katie Senn added a third goal to complete the comeback. Miller scored the first three goals of the Aztecs’ season after scoring against Cal State Bakersfield on August 17. She attempted one more shot and played the entire 90 minutes.

Just 20:07 into Sunday’s match against UC Riverside, Miller scored once more on a pass from Alexys Ocampo, this time for a game-winning goal as the Aztecs went up 1-0 and would go on to win by a 4-0 score. She played 54 minutes in the match.

Miller is the first Aztec to win a weekly award this season. Last year, the team combined for five weekly awards. SDSU swept the awards on September 30 with Denise Castro winning Offensive Player of the Week, Alexa Madueno taking home Defensive Player of the Week and Mia Lane earning freshman honors. In the season’s final week, Dori Savage was named Offensive Player of the Week and Lane won her second Freshman of the Week award.

The Aztecs round out their non-conference schedule with home matches this week against Nevada on September 18 at 7 p.m. and Hawai’i on September 21 at noon. The Hawai’i match will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network and admission is free to both matches.
