TUCSON, Ariz. – San Diego State men’s tennis wrapped up day two of the Wildcat Invite at the University of Arizona on Saturday. After tallying four victories on a successful opening day, the three Aztecs battled on day two, but came up short in five matches.
In doubles, junior Brock Anderson and freshman William Kleege fell 7-5 in a tight matchup against New Mexico State’s Matias Rojas and Ricardo Mercado. Paired up with New Mexico’s Alberto Perez, sophomore Denis Maijorov faced off against NAU’s Daniels Tens and Kai Mills. The Lumberjacks earned a 6-3 victory.
In singles competition, Anderson battled in three sets against Arizona’s Cole Stelse, but was bested 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (1) by the Wildcat. Kleege fell 6-3, 7-6 (4) to NAU’s Kai Mills and Maijorov came up short 6-4, 7-5 to Tyler Waddock of New Mexico.
The Aztecs will return for the final day of competition on Sunday morning.
