SAN DIEGO – Head coach Lauren Dobashi has announced the signing of Kylie Warner, the top golfer at the University of North Dakota last year.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Kylie to the Aztec women’s golf program,” Dobashi said. “She comes to us with a strong competitive background as North Dakota’s leading scorer and an individual tournament champion. We’re excited to bring her back home to California and we are confident that her experience and drive will make an immediate impact on our team.”
Warner (Palmdale, Calif.) appeared in every tournament for the Fighting Hawks in her two years at UND and last year she was the team’s top finisher in six of their eight competitions. She had four top-10 finishes and won the WIU Intercollegiate, which included a personal best two-under par 69 in the opening round. She finished the year with a 75.7 stroke average, nearly three strokes better than her freshman season.
As a freshman, she had UND’s second best average score and had a pair of top-10 finishes. She was one of two players to compete in all 28 rounds and was UND’s top finisher in three tournaments, including in her collegiate debut, the NDSU Fall Invitational. As a biology major, she was named to the Summit League Academic Honor Roll and was on UND’s Dean’s List.
Warned attended Quartz Hill High School in Lancaster, Calif. where she was a three-time Golden League champion and helped her school win four league titles. She went to the CIF individuals all four years and reached the CIF/SCGA Southern State Regional Championships as a sophomore. She served as her team’s captain and was a 4.0 student.
