SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State cross country has officially announced their schedule for the upcoming 2025 season. The Aztecs will appear in seven races during the fall including both their final Mountain West Championships as well as the NCAA West Regionals.

The five-kilometer race will be the first meet hosted by the Aztecs in roughly seven years and is set for 5:00 p.m. PT on Aug. 29th at the SDSU Mission Valley River Park.
Next on the schedule is a two-meet weekend in which the Aztecs will split up to compete at both the Gans Creek Classic hosted by the University of Missouri on Sept. 26th as well as the UC Riverside Invitational on Sept. 27th.
The Aztecs will kick off the month of October with their third consecutive trip to the University of Oregon to participate in the Bill Dellinger Invitational on Oct. 10th. The following weekend will see the team return to UC Riverside to compete in the Highlander Invitational on Oct. 18th.
The postseason will begin with the teams gearing up for the program's final Mountain West Championships on Oct. 31st in Fresno, Calif., at the famous Woodward Park course. The NCAA West Regional meet will take place at the Haggin Oaks Golf Club in Sacramento, Calif., the Hornets of Sacramento State are set to host the event for the 2025 season.
Head coach Robert Lusitana will deploy a diverse squad for the 2025 season featuring a great combination of six new faces as well as key returners. Among the top athletes to race for the Aztecs this year will be the duo of Vanessa Cabello and Samantha Wood. Cabello was SDSU’s top performer at the 2024 NCAA West Regionals where her finishing time of 20:48.9 proved to be the fifth best time ever in the program's 6K record books. Wood was not far behind at regionals where she was the second Aztec to cross the finish line and cemented herself in the record books with the sixth fastest 6K in program history to the tune of 21:03.9.
