Tell us about yourself.

c2wc.pngSan Diego has been home for 21 years. My wife, Jo, and i raised our three kids in North County’s agricultural heart - surrounded by citrus groves, avocado trees, and a tight-knit community. We like to joke we’re “farmers at heart.”

Last fall, we became proud grandparents to a grandson and granddaughter, and life hasn’t been the same since - in the best way.

Being the son of a 30-year Army veteran and having lived and worked in multiple cities throughout my professional career, our family moved often. These 21 years in San Diego mark the longest we’ve ever lived in one place—and that’s part of what makes this city and community so meaningful to us.

I’ve been fortunate to work across collegiate and professional sports, as well as the non-profit space, with a focus on fundraising, community engagement, and building culture throughout my career. While my path has taken me many places, being part of the Aztec family brings a deep sense of purpose and pride. of the Aztec family brings a deep sense of purpose and pride.

I’ve also had the honor of working closely with the ALS community. Through Coach Steve Fisher and his son Mark, who is living with ALS, I’ve seen the strength of this fight firsthand. Coach Fisher continues to be a powerful advocate, and San Diego plays a leading role in advancing care, awareness, and research.

What brought you back to San Diego State?

My return to SDSU represents a full-circle moment. From 2003–2008, I was part of the team that laid the foundation for our sponsorship and development programs. Now, I’m back to build on that momentum, which includes newer priorities like Aztecs Going Pro and the Student-Athlete Recruitment and Retention Fund.

Reconnecting with former colleagues, meeting new coaches and staff, and seeing the program's growth has been energizing. There’s something special happening here, and I’m excited to be part of it.

How does your role impact our Aztec Student-Athletes?

My job is to help secure the resources our student-athletes need to succeed - on the field, in the classroom, and beyond.

As a former first-generation college student and scholarship athlete, I know what that opportunity means. I’ve lived the ups and downs, and I see that same determination in our Aztecs. It’s a privilege to pay it forward and help open doors for them, just as others did for me.

What do you enjoy most about working with the aztec club?

The people, hands down. Our donors give more than money. Our donors give their hearts. They’re all in for our student-athletes’ growth and success.

Working with the Aztec Club, our coaches, and campus colleagues across SDSU, we’re focused on creating a donor experience that’s thoughtful, engaging, and results-driven. It’s about listening, building trust, and fostering a community that’s proud to support our mission.

How can aztec fans and donors get involved?

One of my most cherished memories is our program’s very first victory. After spending an entire year recruiting and building the team from the ground up, seeing it all come together in that inaugural win, under the lights on our home field, was truly unforgettable.

Another standout moment was our thrilling overtime win to claim our first-ever MPSF championship, also on our home turf. The energy, the emotion, and the sense of accomplishment in that moment were absolutely incredible.

Anything else you’d like to share with aztec club donors?

Your generosity changes lives. It gives our student-athletes the chance to grow, compete, and prepare for what’s next.  I’m honored to be back at SDSU and proud to be working alongside a team, and a community, that matches donor commitments with purpose and pride. Thank you for building this with us.
