SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women’s tennis added two transfers to its 2025-26 roster, signing Jayna Clemens out of Mississippi State and Teja Tirunelveli from Arizona.
Clemens comes to The Mesa as a rising junior. Through her first two seasons at Mississippi State, the Lewisville, Texas native amassed an 18-9 dual singles record, predominantly playing on the fifth and sixth courts. In 2025, Clemens boasted a 10-2 singles record in dual matches, posting a perfect 7-0 record in the sixth spot and 2-0 in the fifth spot. She also went 9-10 in dual doubles during her sophomore season.
A junior out of the University of Arizona, Tirunelveli joins the Aztecs with a 10-13 dual singles record through two seasons played, competing at nearly every spot with the exception of the top court. She holds a 12-12 dual doubles record, playing in the second and third positions. Tirunelveli is from Keller, Texas and attended Indiana University High School prior to spending two years in Tucson, Ariz.
The two junior transfers join the reigning Mountain West regular season champions, led by Head Coach Nicolas Vinel, who will be at the helm following the retirement of Coach Peter Mattera.
