SAN DIEGO – San Diego State head men’s soccer coach Ryan Hopkins has released the 2025 schedule. The Aztecs, who are coming off a regular season WAC championship, will be home for 10 of their 17 matches.
The schedule is highlighted by matches at perennial powerhouse Virginia, a crosstown clash with San Diego at Snapdragon Stadium and a meeting with old Pac-12 foe Oregon State.
The Aztecs will begin the season with a pair of home friendlies against Big West opponents. First, they host UC San Diego August 12 and then UC Santa Barbara August 15.
SDSU officially begins the season on the East Coast Aug. 21 when they play at Virginia. The Cavaliers have made the NCAA tournament 44 times, the College Cup on 13 occasions and won the national championship seven times. Head coach Ryan Hopkins was an assistant at Virginia before coming to SDSU.
Before returning home, the Aztecs will play at Howard August 24. It will be SDSU’s first meeting with both Virginia and Howard. This is the second straight season the Aztecs have made a trip to the East Coast. They earned a 1-1 draw at Maryland last year.
Six of SDSU’s next seven matches will be at home beginning Aug. 28 when they host Life Pacific for their home opener. They then will square off with the University of San Diego on Labor Day (Sept. 1) when they host the Toreros Sept. 1 at Snapdragon Stadium. The Aztecs are 16-8-3 all-time vs. USD, who have made the NCAAs the last three seasons and made it to the third-round last year.
SDSU has set a program record for attendance in each of their previous three matches at Snapdragon Stadium. Last year, 3,802 fans were in attendance for SDSU’s match vs. UC Davis.
The Aztecs welcome in Santa Clara Sept. 5 for their 24th meeting overall, but first since 2019.
SDSU hits the road Sept. 8 for a match at UC Riverside. The Aztecs beat the Highlanders 5-2 in the season opener last year.
The Aztecs return home for three straight at the Sports Deck beginning with a Sept. 12 contest with Oregon State, their former Pac-12 foe. The Beavers went 10-5-3 last year and made the NCAA tournament and they made it to the College Cup the year prior.
SDSU then will host Yale Sept. 15. This will be the Aztecs’ first meeting with Yale and first match against an Ivy league school since 2018 (Brown).
The Aztecs close out non-conference play with a pair of matches against Big West schools. First, they host Cal Poly, the reigning Big West regular season champions, Sept. 21, and then play at Cal State Fullerton Sept. 27.
SDSU begins WAC play at Air Force Oct. 4 and then plays three straight at home: Grand Canyon (Oct. 9), UNLV (Oct. 12) and Utah Tech (Oct. 18).
The Aztecs hit the road to play at San Jose State Oct. 23 before heading to Utah Valley Oct. 27.
SDSU closes out the regular season Nov. 1 when they host California Baptist.
The WAC tournament will be held at California Baptist beginning Nov. 9.
The Aztecs went 7-0-1 in the WAC last year and shutout their opponent six times. Their 10 wins on the season were their most since the 2011 season.
