Noonan, Sipila Land on Mountain West All-Tournament Team
MESA, Ariz. – San Diego State infielder Nevan Noonan and starting pitcher Marko Sipila received all-tournament recognition on Saturday following the conclusion of the 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championship.
The MW all-tournament team featured 11 student-athletes from the four institutions that advanced to bracket play and were chosen by their respective team’s head coaches.
A junior transfer from nearby Grossmont College, Noonan led the Aztecs in numerous offensive categories for the week, including batting average (.538), hits (7), RBIs (7) and slugging percentage (.923). In addition, he finished with multiple hits and RBIs in all three contests.
In SDSU’s 8-0 first-round victory over UNLV, Noonan went 2-for-4 at the plate and led the team with three RBIs, helping the Scarlet and Black snap a four-game losing streak in the conference tournament.
The following day vs. Nevada, Noonan gave the Aztecs the early lead with his team-leading ninth home run, a two-run shot to left in the first inning, before the Wolf Pack took charge.
In SDSU’s narrow 7-6 loss to San José State in the elimination bracket, Noonan led the Aztecs with three hits, including a pair of doubles, with the latter driving in two runs in the eighth inning, as a belated rally fell short.
Meanwhile, Sipila combined on his first collegiate shutout in San Diego State’s aforementioned whitewash of UNLV when he offset three hits and two walks with six strikeouts in seven innings to earn the victory.
Last week, both Noonan and Sipila garnered second-team all-Mountain West accolades for their performances during the 2025 conference schedule.
Noonan was just one of two Aztecs to play all 59 games for the Scarlet and Black this season, batting .356 with a team-high nine home runs and 56 RBIs. He also topped the squad with multiple hits 26 games and knocked in two or more runs on 18 occasions.
On the mound, Sipila finished with a 4-3 record for all games, leading the team with a 3.91 ERA, 74 strikeouts and a .256 opposing batting average.
Fresno State, which successfully defended its MW title on Saturday, led the field with four all-tournament honorees, including MVP Murf Gray, while runner-up San José State had three, followed by SDSU and Nevada with two apiece.
