SAN DIEGO – Select San Diego State divers will be vying for automatic qualification to the national meet this week when they compete in the NCAA Zone E Championships, March 10-12, in Federal Way, Washington.

The Aztec trio of Valentina Lopez Arevalo, Alina Skrocki and Summer Westmoreland will participate in all three upcoming events at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center—the 1-meter springboard, 3-meter springboard and platform.

The 2025 Zone E Championships commence on Monday with the 3-meter springboard, followed by platform diving on Tuesday, and 1-meter springboard action on Wednesday. Preliminaries are slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. PT each day.

Divers that finish in the top eight for the 1-meter and 3-meters and top nine for the platform will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, set for March 19-22 at the same venue in the greater Seattle area. Individuals who earn an automatic qualification in one event and finish among the top 12 in another will secure NCAA qualification in that event as well.

For the second year in a row, Lopez Arevalo garnered Mountain West Diver of the Meet accolades at the conference championships last month after combining for 92 points across three events, which marked the highest individual total in the field of competitors. The Aztec senior won gold medals in the 3-meter and platform events while capturing a silver medal on the 1-meter board.

With her performance, Lopez Arevalo’s MW Diver of the Meet award represented the fourth time an SDSU student-athlete has earned such honors after Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez received the same distinction in 2019 and 2022.

A four-year competitor at the NCAA Zone E Championships, Lopez Arevalo qualified for the national meet in 2022 from the platform height after placing ninth at zones in Flagstaff, Arizona, with an aggregate score of 484.20 points.

Likewise, Westmoreland will be making her fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Zone E Championships, while Skrocki will be making her second straight trip.

Westmoreland received all-MW recognition at the conference meet after placing fifth on the 1-meter springboard, while Skrocki earned all-league honors thanks to her seventh-place finish in the platform event.

The University of Utah will serve as host for the 2025 NCAA Zone E Championships. Along with the Utes, SDSU will compete against divers from Arizona, Arizona State, Brigham Young, California Baptist, Denver, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Hawai’i, Nevada, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Pepperdine, Stanford, UCLA, UNLV, USC and Wyoming.
