SAN DIEGO – Following a loss to Utah on the opening day of the San Diego Spring Invitational, San Diego State men’s tennis bounced back with a victory over Tulane on Saturday morning. Despite dropping the doubles point, the Aztecs rallied to take four singles courts in a 4-2 win.
The Scarlet and Black improve to 6-4 while Tulane falls to 2-8.
"It was a great come-from-behind win today," said Head Coach Gene Carswell. "The team showed a lot of backbone and resiliency in today's victory. I'm very proud of the group. They supported each other and rallied to get the win."
In doubles, Alexander Mandma and Mathieu Josserand earned their sixth win of the season on the top court, taking down Asaf Friedler and Vincent Vohl by a score of 6-4. Eugenio Gonzalez Fitzmaurice and Paul Janson fell 6-3 to Luka Petrovic and AJ Mercer on court three. The point came down to a court two battle between Liam Spiers/Marc Kleber and Charlie Burdell/Hady El Kordy, which the Green Wave captured 7-5.
