Aztecs Roll to 80-61 Win on Senior Night

Four Aztecs scored in double figures to secure the 4-seed for San Diego State in next week’s Mountain West Tournament.

SAN DIEGO – San Diego State shot 54.5 percent from the floor and four players reached double figures in its 80-61 victory on Saturday night over the Nevada Wolf Pack at Steve Fisher Court at Viejas Arena.

Nick Boyd led the offensive attack with 18 points and was joined by Miles Heide who had a career-best 14 points, Pharaoh Compton who equaled his career-high with 13 points and BJ Davis added 10.

The Aztecs 54.5 percent shooting (30-of-55) is their best since February 16, 2024, against New Mexico, when they hit 56.9 percent.

The Aztecs led 8-7 with 14:49 to play in the first half and then went on a 24-3 run over an 8:40 span to extend their advantage to 32-10 and never looked back. They led by 22 points at the half, 43-21. The 22-point advantage is their largest halftime lead of the season.

SDSU’s largest margin, 28 points, came with 17:54 to play, 49-21. The Wolf Pack got as close as 14 points, 59-45 with 9:56 to play, but the Aztecs responded with an 8-1 run and put Nevada away 80-61.

SAn Diego State honored six senior on Saturday, Ryan Schwarz, Desai Lopez, Demarshay Johnson Jr., Kimo Ferrari, Wayne McKinney III and Jared Coleman-Jones in a ceremony prior to the game.

With the win, San Diego State is the 4-seed in next week’s Mountain West Tournament and will face 5-seed Boise State at 2:30 p.m. PT on Thursday in a quarterfinal matchup.
