SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s basketball team (22-9, 11-7) extended their win streak to five with a 75-61 win over Fresno State (17-14, 8-10) in their regular season finale Tuesday night. The Aztecs shot 53 percent from the floor while holding the Bulldogs to a 37 percent clip.
Kim Villalobos and Veronica Sheffey each scored 14 points with Villalobos showing off her versatility with six rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks. Naomi Panganiban chipped in 11 points.
The Aztecs shot 9-for-14 from the floor in the first quarter and a 13-2 run helped them grab a double-digit lead. Sheffey scored 10 of her 14 points in the opening quarter.
The Bulldogs put together an 11-1 run in the second quarter to bring the score to 31-27. They would get as close as two points early in the third quarter but never took the lead.
A pair of Erin Houpt three-pointers gave the Aztecs a 12-point lead entering the fourth quarter.
With the game out of reach, SDSU was able to put in all five of their seniors in the final minutes.

The Aztecs outrebounded the Bulldogs 40-25.
THE NOTE I
This is the first time SDSU has entered the Mountain West tournament on a five-game win streak since the 2012-13 season.

For the second season in a row, San Diego State set a program record for attendance.
