The last time San Diego State and Colorado faced off was on March 30 of last year, with the No. 22 ranked Buffs earning a 17-8 win on their home field. Former Pac-12 foes, the two programs look to earn their first win in the new Big 12 era.

The Aztecs enter Saturday’s contest with a 5-5 overall record, most recently falling 24-15 to UC Davis in a non-conference matchup. Their last win came against East Carolina, taking down the Pirates in a 17-16 thriller.

Colorado holds a 4-5 record. Last time out, the Buffs came up short 11-9 to Dartmouth following a 7-6 win over No. 18 Stony Brook three days prior, which was Colorado’s second ranked win of the season after taking down No. 25 Army West Point 12-6 in February.

San Diego State’s aggressive offense continues to lead the Big 12 in goals per game (15.40), shots per game (34.90) and shot percentage (.441). The Aztecs boast the 11th highest-scoring offense in the country, led by Frankie Garcia, who ranks fifth in the conference in points per game (4.00) and Bella Tan, who is third in goals per game (3.10).

The Aztecs also lead the conference and rank third nationally in ground balls per game, picking up an average of 20.30 in each outing. Midfielders Kate Christos and Keira Doyle-Odenbach top the Big 12 in this stat, each with an average of 2.10 per game.

Starting goalkeeper Caitlin Boughton ranks third in the Big 12 in saves per game, averaging 9.20 through the first ten games. Boughton recorded a season-high 17 saves against Ohio State on March 15.

The Aztec offense will go up against Colorado’s Elena Oh, who leads the league in goals against average, allowing only 9.03 per game, and is second in saves percentage (.464).

Following Saturday’s game, the Scarlet and Black will hit the road for the first time in nearly four weeks, first heading to Deland, Fla. to take on Stetson on Wednesday, followed by a Saturday morning matchup against No. 7 Florida in Gainesville.
