COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Kylie Phi of the San Diego State women’s golf team was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Thursday afternoon. It’s the third time Phi has won the award.
Phi (Fountain Valley, Calif.) shot a career-low three-over-par 219 at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Maui this week.
She opened the tournament with a three-over-par 75 and then finished with a 71 and a 73. She tied for 35th overall (out of 98 golfers).
She had 40 pars which tied for the seventh most in the tournament and she averaged 3.97 strokes on par fours, which tied for ninth-best in the field.
Phi’s three Freshman of the Week awards are a school record.
