Jenna Fee Feyerabend Takes 10th in Pentathlon at NCAA Indoor Championships

Feyerabend takes 10th in the pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships, while Foote comes in 14th in the 400.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- San Diego State’s Jenna Fee Feyerabend finished in 10th place in the pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Friday at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.

Feyerabend came in 10th with 4,202 points, a season-best total and the second-best mark of her career. Feyerabend beat Lucie Kienast (Illinois) by a single point to finish 10th, and was just 31 points behind Purdue’s Jalen Elrod for eighth and the final scoring position. Notre Dame’s Jadin O’Brien won the event with 4,596 points.

Feyerabend began her day with a 15th-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.84 seconds for 944 points. She then came in seventh in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 7 ¾ inches (1.72 meters) for 879 points. Next up was the shot put, where Feyerabend was fifth with a heave of 44-01.50 (13.45m) for 757 points. In the long jump, she was 12th with a season-best leap of 19-02.75 (5.86m) for 807 points. Feyerabend finished the grueling day in the 800, running a personal-best time of 2:20.65 for 815 points.

Shaquena Foote, meanwhile, came in fourth in her heat in the prelims of the 400 meters and 14th overall in a time of 52.58 seconds. Foote did not advance to Saturday’s final in the event.

With their performances, both athletes earn second-team All-America honors per the USTFCCCA award guidelines.

The outdoor season resumes as San Diego State plays host to the Aztec Invitational (March 21-22) and the Shelia Burrell Aztec Heptathlon/Decathlon (March 27-28) in consecutive weekends.
