LA QUINTA, Calif. – The San Diego State women’s golf team finished the first day of the Yale Invitational West Monday. Through two rounds, the Aztecs are in eighth place out of 12 schools after shooting a two-over-par 290 in each round.
San Diego State was led by Ema Narita who carded a one-under-par 71 in both rounds. She is tied for 13th after 36 holes. Narita’s 30 pars are a tournament-high and she had just two bogeys on the day, both of which came in her first round.
Stephanie Barbaglia is second among Aztec golfers with a two-over-par 146. She fired a one-over-par 73 in both of her rounds and is tied for 30th overall.
Kylie Phi and Maya Benita are both one stroke behind Barbaglia with a three-over-par 147. Phi shot a 73 and then a 74 and Benita had a 75 and then an even par 72. Both golfers had a team-high four birdies in the first round.
Emilia Omander was one-over-par in the first round but finished outside the scoring in the second round with an 82.
No. 15 North Carolina leads the field by 10 strokes with a 554 (-22) and their Ing Iadpleuem is the individual leader as well (134, -10)
