HOUSTON – San Diego State inched closer to its fourth consecutive conference title on Friday with a series of strong performances in six events at the 2025 Mountain West Championships inside CRWC Natatorium on the University of Houston campus.
After the third day of competition, the Aztecs held steady atop the team standings with 837 points, increasing their advantage over second-place UNLV (797 pts) to 40 points, while Nevada (701 pts) remains a distant third, followed by Fresno State (657 pts) and Washington State (636 pts).
SDSU captured one gold, one silver and two bronze medals on the day while recording seven NCAA “B” cut times.
The Aztecs opened Friday’s festivities with an event title in the 200 freestyle relay, as the quartet of Alli Mann, Kaydence Bispo, Abby Storm and Meredith Smithbaker joined forces for a winning time of 1:29.68, which ranks seventh in program history and eclipses an NCAA “B” cut standard.
In addition, Wilma Johansson completed a school-record swim of 1:46.24 in the 200 freestyle, where she also notched an NCAA “B” cut time to secure a second-place finish, while Bispo took seventh in the same finals at 1:49.66 after logging a season-fast clocking of 1:48.24 in the preliminaries.
