ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – For the fourth time in her career, Shaquena Foote broke her own 400m school record to highlight San Diego State’s final day in New Mexico this weekend. Overall, 17 Aztecs competed on day two of the Don Kirby Invitational on Saturday.

Foote (Westmoreland, Jamaica) originally broke the San Diego State indoor 400m record on Jan. 20 of last season. Since then, she has bested her own record four times with Saturday’s 52.42 marking the latest. It narrowly edged out her previous PR by 0.01 seconds but improved her school record nonetheless. She finished fourth overall in the event.

Jada Pierre entered the record books as an individual for the first time of her SDSU career. Running an 8.40 in the 60m hurdle final, she now ranks tenth all-time in program indoor history. She was one of two Aztecs to reach the 60mH final with Charlize James crossing the line fifth in 8.27 seconds, a season best for the junior.

The Aztecs’ one-two pair in the 800m record books finished one-two in the same race on Saturday. While not personal bests, Sophia Wolf and Lauren Harper bested the rest of the 32-person field with times of 2:07.75 and 2:07.85 respectively. They hold down two of the top three 800m times in the conference.

Other personal bests for the Scarlet and Black on Saturday includes Olivia Hicks (7.53) in the 60m, the fourth time she has improved her PR this season. Mia Reid ran a personal best 8.65 in the 60m hurdles, Sara Jones a 2:18.80 PR in the 800m and Alyssa Alumbres’ 11.74m (38-6.25) in triple jump is a new collegiate PR.

The Aztecs will return to Albuquerque, N.M. in two weeks for the Mountain West Championships. The conference meet begins on Thursday, Feb. 27 and runs through Saturday, Mar. 1 at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
