SAN DIEGO – San Diego State men’s tennis is back in action after nearly three weeks, traveling to Utah to take on Weber State on Friday at 10:30 a.m. PT and Utah State on Sunday at 10 a.m. PT.

The Aztecs are 2-2 with wins over UC San Diego and losses to USC and UC Irvine. Most recently, San Diego State fell to UC Irvine in a 4-3 heartbreaker at the Aztec Tennis Center on Jan. 25.

Leading the Aztecs on the top court in singles has been junior Eugenio Gonzalez Fitzmaurice, who has two wins on the season, including one in the second spot. Seniors Alexander Mandma, Mathieu Josserand and Liam Spiers also have two wins on the season.

Mandma and Josserand have taken the top court in doubles in each match and currently hold a 2-2 record, including a gritty 7-6 (5) win over UC Irvine’s Andy Nguyen and Noah Zamora to clinch the doubles point.

Weber State is 2-3 overall, with wins over UC Riverside and New Mexico State. Led by Head Coach Brad Ferreira in his 13th season, the Wildcats were picked third in the Big Sky preseason poll, coming off a 10-13 record in 2024. Five key players returned for Weber State’s 2025 season, including Jordan Coutinho, Tristan Sarap, William Zulch, Connor Kruger and Ken Minh.

Following Friday’s match in Ogden, the Aztecs will head up the road to Logan where they will face their first conference opponent in Utah State.

The Aggies are 3-2 with wins over Weber State, Portland State and LMU, and losses to Portland and No. 10 Arizona. They defeated LMU 5-2 in a neutral site match on Feb. 8.

Utah State currently leads San Diego State 9-4 in the all-time series, but the Aztecs took the most recent match by a score of 4-3 in the semifinal round of last year’s Mountain West Championship.

The Aztecs will be back on their home courts on Feb. 26 where they will take on Cal Poly.
