Aztecs Kick off Spring Season Monday vs. Long Beach State

The San Diego State women’s golf team begins their spring season with a head-to-head match vs. Long Beach State Monday at the Farms Golf Club.

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s golf team begins their spring season with a head-to-head match vs. Long Beach State Monday at the Farms Golf Club. The teams will play one round with their top four golfers scoring.

SDSU’s lineup is Ema Narita, Kylie Phi, Stephanie Barbaglia, Nikki Kato and Emilia Omander. Emma Delwes and Maya Benita will be competing as individuals.

Narita finished second or third among Aztecs in every fall tournament. She also led the Aztecs in count percentage (11.5-12, 95.8%).

The freshman Phi started every tournament in the fall and had three rounds below par, including a three-under-par 69 in her collegiate debut.

Barbaglia had the best average in the fall with a 72.1 18-hole average and led SDSU in three of their four tournaments. She shot an even par or better in six of her 12 rounds in the fall.

Kato played in SDSU’s first two fall tournaments where she carded a 229 and 228.

Omander, a freshman from Cologne, Germany, made her debut in the Stanford Intercollegiate, SDSU’s final fall tournament.

Benita will be making her SDSU debut. She spent her first four years at Arizona where she played in 17 tournaments.

Delwes played in three tournaments in the fall and made two starts. Her best tournament was the Ron Moore Intercollegiate where she shot a 230 that included a one-over-par 73 in the first round. 

The Farms Golf Club is the Aztecs’ home course. It is 6,329 yards and a par 72. Teams will play in twosomes with the first group teeing off at 9 a.m.

The forecasts calls for temperatures in the 60s with partly cloudy skies and minimal wind.
