SAN DIEGO – San Diego State track and field begins the 2025 season in Reno, Nev. for the Silver and Blue Invitational at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. The two-day event begins at 10 a.m. both Friday and Saturday.

  • The Aztecs will send 20 student-athletes to the season opening meet in Nevada. In total, they make up 29 individual entries as well as three entries in the 4x400m relay.
  • Five newcomers (Laraigh Allen, Alyssa Alumbres, Peyton Bedrosian, Pavana Nagaraj and Mikaela Warr) are set to make their collegiate debuts with three others (Takiyah Blue, Anna Mager and Mia Reid) are scheduled for their first meet in the Scarlet and Black.
  • This is the first time, San Diego State is competing at an indoor meet in Reno, Nev.
  • Among the teams SDSU will compete against are San Jose State, UC Irvine, St. Mary’s, host Nevada and several Division II programs.
  • Looking at entry marks for the Silver & Blue Invitational, three Aztecs - Hannah Waller (1st), Shaquena Foote (3rd), Aji Mbye (4th) - are atop the 60m seeding. Foote also ranks second in the 200m. Charlize James (2nd) and Jada Pierre (3rd) are among the leaders in the 60m hurdles. Jordan Leveque leads the pole vaulters with Kayla Tassara (3rd) and Peyton Bedrosian (4th) right behind. Waller appears again at third in long jump while Jenna Fee Feyerabend is third in shot put.
  • Head Coach Shelia Burrell enters her 16th season at the helm of the program. Since taking over, SDSU has never finished worse than fourth at an indoor conference championship meet and has finished top three every year except one, including a trophy-hoist in 2013.
  • The Aztecs finished second in the Mountain West Indoor Championships last year, their third runner-up finish in the last four conference championship meets.
  • Eight Aztecs earned all-Mountain West honors last year, their fourth consecutive season of at least seven honorees. Of the eight, six return for the 2025 season including gold medal winners Hannah Waller (60m) and Shaquena Foote (400m).
  • Last year, SDSU had 22 marks etched into the program record books during indoor season, including four school records. Of those 22, 17 are courtesy of student-athletes returning for this season. In total, 19 of all the top ten marks in SDSU indoor history were set by current Aztecs.
