SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s basketball team (12-4, 1-2) lost to New Mexico (10-6, 3-0) 68-59 inside Viejas Arena Saturday afternoon.
“It was a tough week for us,” Head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson said after the game. “As good as we played Sunday against Boise State, we played just as poorly in our next two games. Playing three games in seven days, we looked a little fatigued and we gave up too many driving opportunities at the rim.”

The Lobos missed their first six shots, but the Aztecs struggled with turnovers and New Mexico took an early lead and never relinquished it.
SDSU made just one of their first 10 three-pointers and found themselves down 28-24 at the half.
After the Lobos scored 14 points in each of the first and second quarters, they erupted for 25 in the third quarter. The Aztecs trailed by as much as 13 points but cut the deficit to five early in the fourth quarter. However, SDSU missed seven of their final eight shots.
The Aztecs were outscored in the paint 42-24 and shot just 53% (8-15) from the line.
Destinee Hooks led the Lobos with 18 points.
