Sara Toner Named to Preseason All-Big 12 Team

SAN DIEGO – Senior Sara Toner has been named to the 2025 Preseason All-Big 12 Lacrosse Team, the conference announced on Thursday. The veteran midfielder out of Reston, Va. joins 17 other student-athletes on the all-conference team.

“We are incredibly proud that Sara has earned a spot on the Preseason All-Big 12 Team,” said head coach Kylee White. “This recognition is a testament to her hard work, talent and dedication on and off the field. She is a team-first player who does whatever she can to put her teammates in the best possible position to win. We couldn’t be more thrilled to see her efforts recognized by the conference, and we are excited for what’s to come this season.”

Last season, Toner led the Aztecs in total points, finding the back of the net 39 times, which is the seventh most by an Aztec in a single season. She recorded 15 multi-goal games and matched her career high four separate times, scoring four goals against Campbell, Oregon, California and USC. She also tallied 13 ground balls, six caused turnovers and three assists. Her 42 points in 2024 are the 10^th most by an Aztec in a single season.

As a team captain, Toner will help lead the Aztecs through the inaugural Big 12 lacrosse season, which officially gets underway on March 29 against Colorado. San Diego State’s nonconference schedule kicks off on February 7 in a road matchup versus Detroit Mercy, following a home exhibition against Pomona-Pitzer on Friday, January 31.
