SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s basketball team (14-7, 3-5) lost to San Jose State (9-11, 2-5) 68-57 inside Viejas Arena Wednesday evening.

“I’m disappointed. I thought San Jose State outplayed us for the majority of the game,” Head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson said after the game. “I thought they were the tougher team, but this is an opportunity to learn.”

The Aztecs held the Spartans to 1-for-12 shooting and four points in the first quarter but then SJSU erupted for 27 points on 10-for-16 shooting in the second quarter to take a six-point lead into the halftime break.

The Spartans would go up by as much as 14 points in the third quarter and the closest SDSU got in the fourth quarter was seven points.

SDSU was led by Veronica Sheffey who scored 13 points.

STAT OF THE GAME
The Spartans outscored the Aztecs 27-13 in the second quarter.

THE NOTE 
SDSU made 12 threes on 60% shooting at Utah State Saturday but were just 2-for-12 from deep Wednesday.
