SAN DIEGO – San Diego State men’s tennis is set to open its spring season at the Aztec Tennis Center on Saturday, January 11, hosting UC San Diego in a doubleheader at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. PT.

The Aztecs are led by the four returning upperclassmen, Alexander Mandma, Mathieu Josserand, Liam Spiers and Eugenio Gonzalez Fitzmaurice, who combined for 43 singles victories in 2023-24. Mandma (12-4, 2-2 MW) and Gonzales Fitzmaurice (11-7, 3-3 MW) had the second and third-best dual singles records of the 2024 season, behind only Robin Parts, who recorded a perfect 17-0.

Head Coach Gene Carswell rounded out the 2025 roster with four freshmen additions: Louis Chusseau, Paul Janson, Marc Kleber and Denis Maijorov, as well as Philipp Bosse, a sophomore transfer out of Florida Gulf Coast University.

During the fall season, the Aztecs competed in tournaments hosted by the University of Arizona, San Diego and Arizona State, in addition to the Mountain West Fall Qualifier and Dennis Rizza Intercollegiate Classic.

The last time the two programs faced off in a dual match was April 15, 2023, when the Aztecs defeated the Tritons 4-3. Alexander Mandma clinched the first singles win of the match for SDSU at the No. 4 position against Charles Qian.
