FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The San Diego State women’s basketball team (12-3, 1-1) fell at Colorado State (11-4, 2-0) 67-56 Wednesday afternoon, their first road loss of the season.
The Aztecs committed a season-low six turnovers but shot just 4-for-18 from three (22%). The Rams started the game on a 10-2 run and SDSU never took a lead (although they tied it up three times).
Veronica Sheffey led the Aztecs with a season-high 18 points and Jazlen Green also scored in double-digits with 11 points.
SDSU was outrebounded 15-5 in the opening quarter and found themselves down 16-8 after 10 minutes.
The Aztecs held the Rams without a point for the first 5:30 of the second quarter and tied the game up at 22, before going into the halftime break trailing 25-22. Seven of Colorado State's 11 turnovers came in the second quarter.
The Rams started to pull away late in the third quarter, but back-to-back Sheffey buckets pulled the Aztecs within five points with five minutes remaining. CSU responded with an 8-2 run to put the game away.
The Rams were led by the Ronsiek sisters. Emma finished with 24 points and Hannah had 16 points and 18 rebounds.

The Aztecs shot 22% from three while the Rams were 53% from long distance.
THE NOTE
This was SDSU’s first road loss of the season. The last time the Aztecs started the season 4-0 on the road was the 2009-10 season.
