Five Aztecs Named to All-Region Team

KANSAS CITY – After winning the WAC regular season championship, the San Diego State men’s soccer team placed a program-best five players on the United Soccer Coaches All-Region First and Second Teams. Reid Fisher was named to the first team while Austin Brummett, Djibril Doumbia, Terence Okoeguale and André Puente were named to the Second Team.

"I always tell the guys individual accolades will come from team success," Head coach Ryan Hopkins said. "I’m so excited to see this hold true with a school record of selections to the all region teams."

Fisher and Puente were both named to the All-WAC First Team and helped the Aztecs lead the conference in shutouts per game, goals allowed average and shots on goals allowed per game in WAC matches. Fisher, who will be participating in the adidas MLS College Showcase this week, has led SDSU in minutes in each of the last two seasons and in 2023 was the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and a Freshmen All-American.

Doumbia, the WAC Goalkeeper of the Year, won two WAC Goalkeeper of the Week awards and led the WAC in shutouts per game (0.75), goals allowed average (0.25) and save percentage (.905) in conference play.

Okoeguale led SDSU with 17 points (6 goals and 5 assists). In conference play, he was fourth in the WAC in points per game (1.14) and tied for fifth in goals (3). On the year, he led the Aztecs with 17 points and tied for the team lead with six goals.

Brummett tied with Okoeguale for the team lead with five assists. He also finished second in the WAC in shot accuracy (53%) and third in shots on goal per game (1.1).
