COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Nat Martinez was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

Martinez (San Leandro, Calif.) averaged 10.5 points and 4.0 assists and helped SDSU earn road wins at California Baptist and Cal State Bakersfield.

Last Wednesday at California Baptist, Martinez scored eight points while dishing out a career-high five assists. She also had a block and a steal.

At Cal State Bakersfield Friday, Martinez made her first start and scored 13 points and made three three-pointers. She also added three rebounds, three assists and a steal.

In total Martinez had eight assists and committed just one turnover in 55 minutes last week.

Martinez is the first Aztec to win Mountain West Freshman of the Week since Mia Davis won it January, 29, 2024.

San Diego State is 6-0 to start the season, their best start since 1988-89. This week they are playing in the Cancun Challenge in Mexico where they will play against Wisconsin, VCU and Providence Nov. 28-30.
