SAN DIEGO – Head coach Shelia Burrell has announced the indoor and outdoor track and field schedules for the upcoming 2025 seasons. The indoor season begins on Friday, Jan. 10 and runs directly into the beginning of the outdoor season beginning on Saturday, Mar. 14.

The Aztecs will compete in four different stats this indoor campaign beginning with the Silver and Blue Invitational in Reno, Nev. Jan. 10-11. They follow that up with a trip to the pacific northwest for the UW Preview in Seattle, Wash. on Jan. 17-18. The longest trip of the season is to Manhattan, Kan. where the Scarlet and Black compete at Kansas State’s DeLoss Dodds Invitational Jan. 31-Feb. 1. The regular season ends in Albuquerque, N.M. with the Don Kirby Elite Invitational Feb. 14-15.

SDSU returns to New Mexico two weeks later for the Mountain West Championships. Last year, the Aztecs finished second to Colorado State marking their third runner-up finish in the last four conference championship meets (2020, 2022, 2024). The team has finished top three in 12 of the 14 MW championship meets of the Shelia Burrell era (since 2010).

The NCAA Indoor Championships are hosted in College Station, Tex. on Mar. 14-15 this upcoming season. San Diego State has had at least one representative at the national three straight years with Xiamara Young qualifying in triple jump a year ago.

It will be a quick transition to outdoor with the first meet scheduled on the same weekend of Mar. 14. The Aztecs will head up I-5 for the Ben Brown Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton.|

The second meet of the outdoor season is at home on the SDSU Sportsdeck on the weekend of Mar. 21-22. It will be the 46th annual Aztec Invitational featuring some of the top collegiate teams and athletes in the country and the world. Last year’s meet consisted of 20 NCAA teams and many unattached and professional athletes from all over the globe.

New this season is San Diego State’s first time hosting a multis meet in some time with the Aztec Heptathlon/Decathlon the following weekend on Mar. 27-28. A contingency of Aztecs will also head to Los Angeles for the Trojan Invitational that same weekend.

April begins with the team splitting to three meets Apr. 3-5 in the Mike Fanelli Classic (San Francisco State), Stanford Invitational (Stanford) and the Arnie Robinson Invitational (San Diego Mesa).

Next up will be back-to-back weekends at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific. The multis portion of the meet will take place Apr. 10-11 with the rest of the events happening Apr. 16-17. The prestigious Mt. SAC Relays also takes place the weekend of Apr. 18-19.

As April becomes May, the Aztecs will compete at the BYU Invitational (Apr. 30-May 1), UC Irvine’s Steve Scott Invitational (May 2-3) and Desert Heat Classic (May 3). Azusa Pacific’s Franson Last Chance Meet will represent the final competition ahead of the conference championships.

Once again, the Mountain West Championships will take place in Clovis, Calif. Like indoors, the Aztecs finished runner-up to Colorado State last season. San Diego State has finished top two in eight straight championship meets, and 10 of the last 11, including six titles.

The NCAA West Preliminaries will be hosted by Texas A&M May 25-31 leading up to the NCAA Outdoor Championships June 8-14 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
