COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State cross country competed at the Mountain West Championships at the Air Force Academy today finishing ninth as a team with 289 total points.
Maddie Heller led the way for the Aztecs finishing with a time of 23:28.8 for a SDSU course record at Eisenhower Golf Course. True freshman Sara Jones ran a 23:49.5 in her first career conference championship race, the second fastest mark by an Aztec on the course.
Isabella Fauria was the third SDSU runner to finish, crossing the line in 24:24.2 ahead of Presley Bennett’s 25:02.6.
Maddy Parrone rounded out the scoring for the Scarlet and Black with a time of 25:32.4 just ahead of the final Aztec, Tatum Zinkin, at 25:54.3.
New Mexico won both the team and individual titles with the Lobos totaling 32 points. Pamela Kosgei dominated the race with a 19:36.2 which was 46.8 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
San Diego State turns their sights on the NCAA West Regionals next. The 6K race will take place Nov. 15 in Colfax, Wash. at the Colfax Golf Course hosted by Washington State this year.
