SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s basketball team has released its non-conference schedule. The 13-game slate features six games against teams that won 20 or more games a year ago and four against teams that made the postseason.

The Aztecs open the season Nov. 4 and will play six non-conference games at home, four on the road and three in Mexico in the Cancun Challenge.

San Diego State begins the season Nov. 4 when they host Cal State San Marcos, who went 27-7 last year and made it to the DII Elite Eight. This will be the first regular season meeting between SDSU and Cal State San Marcos.

The Aztecs’ first road game is Nov. 8 at UC Davis. The Aggies won 20 games a year ago and made a run to the Big West Championship game. SDSU beat UC Davis 77-68 in the third game of the season last year, finishing the game on a 22-5 run.

SDSU returns to Viejas Arena to host Idaho State Nov. 11 and San Francisco Nov. 16. This will be the Aztecs’ first meeting with the Bengals since 2014. SDSU played USF in the Chase Center two years ago.

The Aztecs then play two road games in a three-day span beginning with a Nov. 20 game at California Baptist. The Lancers, who have won 20 or more games four years in a row, went 28-4 last year and won the WAC Tournament. This will be SDSU’s first game against CS Bakersfield since 2012.

San Diego State will spend Thanksgiving in Cancun where they’ll face Wisconsin (Nov. 28), VCU (Nov. 29) and Providence (Nov. 30). SDSU won their only meeting against the Badgers in overtime in 2015. VCU went 26-6 last year, 15-3 in the Atlantic-10 and made the WBIT. SDSU has played Providence once, a 77-69 win in 1989.

The Aztecs then host Bethesda (Anaheim, Calif.) Dec. 6 for their annual field trip game with an 11 a.m. tip.

SDSU’s final non-conference road game is Dec. 11 at Cal State Fullerton. The Aztecs are 24-18 all-time vs. the Titans and have won 11 of the last 12 meetings.

The Aztecs will then play Hawai’i and Stephen F. Austin as part of the San Diego Invitational Dec. 20-21. Hawai’i made the WBIT after going 17-3 in the Big West last year while Stephen F. Austin won 22 games and made the WAC Championship game.

San Diego State, who set a program record for attendance last year, return all eligible players from last season including all-conference forwards Adryana Quezada and Kim Villalobos. The Aztecs have six newcomers, which includes four freshmen and impact transfers Veronica Sheffey (San Diego) and Cali Clark (Colorado State). They also will have Erin Houpt and Trinity Zamora, who missed all last year with injury.
