Aztecs Wrap Up ITA Southwest Regionals

San Diego State men’s tennis concluded their tournament stay in Tempe on Saturday after three days at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships.

TEMPE, Ariz. – San Diego State men’s tennis concluded their tournament stay in Tempe on Saturday after three days at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships. Mathieu Jsserand and Eugenio Gonzalez Fitzmaurice both advanced through the round of 64, but their main draw action came to an end in the round of 32.

On Saturday afternoon, Josserand battled in two tiebreakers against ninth-seeded Casper Christensen of Arizona, but came up short 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-3). A few courts over, in his matchup against the third overall seed Savriyan Danilov of San Diego, Gonzalez Fitzmaurice was bested 6-3, 7-5.

The Aztecs leave Tempe with four wins between Alexander Mandma, Josserand and Gonzalez Fitzmaurice.

Next up, the team will travel to Los Angeles for the Kramer Collegiate Classic on Oct. 31.
