COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – The San Diego State women’s soccer team is in Colorado Springs this week for a pair of matches starting on Thursday night at Colorado College. Neither team was able to score as Alexa Madueno picked up her program record-tying 26th career shutout in the 0-0 draw.

Colorado College (5-7-2, 1-3-1 MW) controlled possession early in the first half, forcing a Madueno save in the tenth minute.

San Diego State (4-7-2, 2-2-1 MW) held the ball for most of the rest of the half. SDSU had its first scoring opportunity late in the 20th minute when Trinity Coker put a shot on goal, but it was saved by Tiger keeper Regan Wallace. Dori Savage put a shot on frame ten minutes later as Wallace tallied her second save of the night. Jenna West forced yet another Wallace save ten minutes afterwards to close out the first half.

In the 51st minute, Madueno made her second save of the night on a shot to the bottom right corner of the goal. She reached up to make another save in the 68th minute. SDSU’s Grace Goins was assessed a yellow card in the 79th minute. After Emma Gaines-Ramos had a shot saved by Wallace in the 86th minute, Colorado College’s Brett Tsamasfyros responded with a shot on goal of her own but Madueno made the save to preserve her shutout as the match came to an end.

San Diego State finished the match with more saves (5-4) while Colorado College had more shots (14-10), shots on goal (5-4) and corner kicks (6-3).

Madueno 26th career shutout catapulted her past Melanie Vaughn’s second-place 25.5 into a tie with Aubree Southwick for the school record. She tallied five saves to increase that program record to 376.

San Diego State finishes up its road trip on Sunday at Air Force at 1 p.m. MT/noon PT. The match will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network.
