SAN DIEGO – San Diego State volleyball player Shea Rubright was selected to the all-tournament team at the SDSU Invitational after helping the Aztecs to a 2-1 record at their home event, held Sept. 5-7 inside Aztec Court at Peterson Gym.

A graduate transfer from Washington State, Rubright continued her stellar play to begin the season, earning all-tournament honors for the second straight week. The SDSU middle blocker was joined on the all-tournament team with DePaul libero Rachel Krasowski, Tulane outside hitter Sami Jacobs and Portland State middle blocker Reese Biesemeyer.

Rubright paced the Aztecs in several categories, including hitting percentage (.596), points (47.5, 3.65/set) and total blocks (11). She combined for 37 kills (2.85/set), committing just three errors in 57 attempts across three matches.

Rubright led all players with a collegiate-best 17 kills in a victory over Portland State, hitting at a torrid .640 clip with just one misfire in 25 attempts. She came back the following day with a team-high 15 put-aways vs. Tulane, posting a stellar .667 efficiency with one error in 21 swings.

Despite launching just five kills in the tournament opener against DePaul, Rubright still hit .364 for the night while contributing one ace and a match-high six blocks, including two solo stops, as the Scarlet and Black prevailed in four sets.

For the season, Rubright leads the Mountain West with a .538 hitting percentage, which ranks third in the nation as of Sept. 9. She is also slotted seventh in the conference with 3.85 points per set and occupies the 10th position with 0.38 aces per set (9 overall).

Rubright and the Aztecs return to the court this weekend when they travel up the freeway for the UCR/CBU Challenge, Sept. 13-14, in Riverside, California. SDSU will square off against UC Riverside on Friday at 2:30 p.m. PT, before battling host California Baptist on Saturday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be held at CBU’s Van Dyne Gym.
