SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego State athletic department, San Diego Sports 760 and JMI Sports announced today that SDSU’s Saturday night football game against Hawai’i will have a Spanish radio broadcast. The broadcast, presented by Dalton Motors, will air on GoAztecs.com and the official SDSU athletics app.

It is believed to be the first time that the Aztecs will have a home game air on Spanish radio by a San Diego State broadcaster. Tony Alvarez, a reporter for Televisa Tijuana and Las Noticias, will handle the play-by-play duties for Saturday’s clash at Snapdragon Stadium, set for a 5 p.m. PT start. Alvarez has experience with the former San Diego Chargers of the NFL and the Tijuana Xolos of the Liga MX as a color commentator and analyst in Spanish and English, along with play-by-play in Spanish for the Tijuana Zonkeys basketball team of the Cibacopa and the Tijuana Truenos baseball team. He has also served as a color commentator and lead play-by-play announcer for college football games for Universidad Autónoma de Baja California in Tijuana.

The Spanish radio broadcast will air in conjunction with National Hispanic Heritage Month, which celebrates Hispanic and Latino history and culture, including important advocacy work, vibrant art, popular and traditional foods, and much more. Other activities set for Saturday include a performance by En Fuego, a local Latin dance band, from 2-4:30 p.m. PT in the River Park Block Party, recognition of SDSU student and staff representatives from the LatinX Student Union, HIS Student Advisory Board, MEChA, and Project Rebound Student Alliance, and much more.

Dalton Motors, guided by their "Passion for You," is dedicated to actively supporting the San Diego community. With Toyota, Subaru, and Hyundai dealerships located on the Mile of Cars in National City, Dalton Motors is your trusted partner for all automotive needs.

Saturday’s game is the Mountain West opener for both SDSU (1-3) and Hawai’i (2-2).

Single-game tickets and mini-plans are still available for purchase.
