RIVERSIDE, Calif. – San Diego State wrapped up their second race of the weekend on Saturday morning with four Aztecs running in the UC Riverside Invitational open 5k at the UCR Ag/Ops Course.

True freshman Sara Jones led the group with a 17:53.1 in sixth place. The time is over a full minute faster than her season opening 5k race at Fullerton’s Mark Covert Classic. It is also the fifth fastest mark by an Aztec on UCR’s 5k course and fastest since the 2017 season.

Finishing two spots apart, Maddy Parrone ran an 18:50.9 and Melanie Falkowski ran an 18:52.4 finished 62nd and 64th respectively. Both are personal bests for the duo. Tatum Zinkin was the fourth and final Aztec across the finish line with a time of 20:00.1.

With only four runners, San Diego State did not factor into the team scoring.

Next up for the Aztecs will be the Bill Dellinger Invitational at the University of Oregon on Friday, Oct. 11.
