FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. – San Diego State women’s cross country traveled to Minnesota for the Roy Griak Invitational on Friday morning, finishing ninth of 17 teams in the 6k race. They totaled 262 points with a team time of 2:44.39.4.
Samantha Wood led the Aztecs, finishing 31st with a time of 22:31.8 securing 31 points toward the team total. Not far behind her was Emily Van Valkenburg in 37th at 22:39.6 and 36 points.
The season opening race winner, Vanessa Cabello, was the third Aztec across the line at 23:07.9 for 60 points. Maddie Heller tallied 65 points with a time of 23:11.9 and Eva Rethmeier ran a 23:21.3 for 70 points.
Lauren Harper’s 24:37.5 was good for 108 points and Presley Bennett was the team’s final point scorer at 25:09.4 and 114 points. Isabella Fauria was the final SDSU runner across the line with a time of 25:36.5.
This was the first of two races for San Diego State this weekend as they will have four runners compete in the UCR Invitational on Saturday morning.

Cross Country Completes 6k Race in Minnesota
San Diego State cross country completed their first 6k of the season at the Roy Griak Invitational in Falcon Heights, Minn.
